ABOUT US
Who We Are
The TUXIS Parliament of Alberta is the oldest youth parliament in Alberta, and the longest continuously running youth parliament in Canada. We are a diverse group of youth from all over Alberta who have a passion for debate, politics, and bettering our communities. TUXIS is a spiritual non-denominational youth parliament, and we welcome members of all faiths and belief systems.
Our flagship event is our annual December session, where we spend six fun-filled days debating member-written resolutions inside the Legislative Building. This session is structured to be similar to the sittings of the actual Legislature, and we follow Westminster Parliamentary procedure. However, TUXIS is completely non-partisan and members are free to take whatever side in a debate that they wish to.
We host a condensed session in Calgary during the May long weekend, participate in a special bi-annual session with other western youth parliaments, and also meet throughout the year so that members can practice debating, write resolutions, and get to know one-another. The TUXIS Parliament is completely youth ran, and there are plenty of ways to make an impact.
